Model 19 Pinto

I wasn't watching it but had I been it would have gone for more. Looks like a great deal to me even though it has a condition issue or two. A 34-1 pinto sold Friday at the RIA auction for over $4,000 with buyers premium and tax. Another, a 5 inch pre-27 went for about $5400 with fees. I'd say that pinto 19 was a bargain.

Target trigger and hammer..wrong. "Correct grips".. numbered, but not to revolver. Same as the box. "Fantastic" condition. I'd say fair condition. It may be rare but is an ugly thing in my eyes and looks like a parts gun. Could be why it didn't bring much..

I see a standard hammer and trigger. The worn muzzle would reduce the price for me down to about $700, but that's just me.

Except that it has a letter showing that it shipped in what appears to be the current configuration. When was the last time we saw a Model 19 no dash lettered Pinto for sale? Had it been in the RIA auction this past weekend it would have gone for double or triple the GB price.

Jeff:

I could not agree more with your comments in the prior post. I have not seen many Model 19 (ND) pintos for sale, but I do have a Model 19-1 (shipped 12/17/1962) that also letters as a two-tone (TT, TH) and has the original box...

For those of you above who you don't like the two-tone (pinto) guns, nothing said in this thread, or any other thread for that matter, is going to get you to open your wallet to purchase one. That is fine with me.:) If the pintos appealed to everyone, then S&W would have made more of them, reducing the collectability. They are cool and unique guns for those of us who collect them, and the scarcity of them makes it a real treat when you find and acquire one. :):D

I didn't see the RR/WO on the letter but knowing where it went isn't that standard configuration for them? 🙂
It is a 'pre' though and K264 is where all nickel pre-19s seem to fall.

I don't know, I was going by the letter which called it a Model 19 and says it shipped in 1958 so could have been model marked or a "pre" model that had been built but was still in storage. But "pre" or ND, there aren't many early lettered pinto Combat Magnums, at least where I shop.

I also think it is a Pre 19.
"Fantastic shape" as cold blued in spots.....

It is a reverse two-tone with a nickel frame and a blue barrel and cylinder. Late shipment for a K264000 serial number.

Seems like a fair result given the condition. I would take it to the range and have fun with it.

Sorry. I was agreeing with you about the standard trigger and hammer. Should have quoted Breakaway500.

I know I have never seen a pinto Combat Magnum of any dash for sale around here! :)

The letter (as stated) does not mention the red ramp and white outline, but these features are shown on the invoice. The invoice does not mention a model number, but only a .357 Combat Magnum.
