model 19 question

Just looked at a 19-1 in outstanding condition in a local pawn shop. There is a marking that I have never seen before...sorry no pictures yet....

on the exterior of the cylinder crane it is stamped with what looks like a tiny flag and 76 beside it...

Is this a 1976 centennial gun? All else is standard M19....

I doubt that. The 19-1 was made in 1959 and 1960.

Yeah would need to see a pic. Possibly a foreign proof mark maybe?

That would be my suspicion too. If the "tiny flag" could be an antler, it could be a German Ulm proof. If it was privately imported and sent for proofing, other symbols for other proofhouses are possible too. The 76 would be the year it was imported and proofed.
