Model 19: Should I?

redlevel:

Nice gun. The one I looked at is in a little bit better shape than yours, but not much. Based on what you paid, I think my offer was pretty close. Your info. about current prices is interesting, since I'm not that far from you (Tennessee).

I agree with you on refinishing as an investment. My view is that you refinish simply because you want to, not to increase the value of the gun. If I get this one, I'm not sure what I will do. Honest wear to the blue doesn't bother me, since I consider all of my guns to be shooters rather than museum pieces, but rust does.

Thanks for your input and advice.

I wont comment on the politics of gun show prices, but I think for that money you should get a gun in much better shape. My almost new 19-4 Nick. was 400.00View attachment 34389

$325.00 OTD and this one went home with me a few days ago.

About a year ago I picked up a nice used one with a four inch barrel for $375. Something I like about them and would not mind having a bucket load of them.

Got this 19-3 a few weeks ago $350.00 private party sale I don't think he knew what he had wanted to trade this and a .22 rifle for a AK.
