I recently purchased a 4 inch model 19-3. Serial k79xx. It has the model number and serial number on the frame inside the crane. It also has L19 stamped between the serial and model numbers. What would this extra stamp designate? It does have someone's initials professionally engraved on the left side between the cylinder and trigger. Wish I could post a photo but in my experience that would take me about 2 weeks to accomplish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

"L19" is stamped on the frame between the serial number and model number or is it on the yoke by a five digit assembly number?
L19 is just and inspectors/fitters stamp.

I am curious about a 4" 19-3 with a K79xxxx serial number.

There is a different 5digit number on the yoke. Sorry typo on serial it is 7k9xx

Thanks to everyone for your help. Could the L19 have something to do with the engravings on the side?

Very nice pick up gcs71, that model is next on my list as well.

The "engraving" on the left side of the frame under the cylinder was done by a former owner and not by S&W. As stated above, L19 is a fitter's mark put there by a S&W employee who helped manufacture the Combat Magnum.
