I have, what I believe to be, a Model 1905 M&P chambered in 38 Special. The serial number is 37010S0. Can you tell me the year of manufacture?

Date is likely 1920-21. I am assuming that the S is spurious, and the number is 370100. If it is something else, please correct. It should not have the "Made in USA" stamping on the frame as that came later, and the original grip panels would be checkered wood with center diamond and no S&W medallion. It is correctly called the Model of 1905, Hand Ejector, Military and Police, 4th Change. Surprisingly, many of these M&Ps from the roaring 20s survived in excellent condition. They are my favorites. A picture would be good.

I agree with DWalt that is was probably manufactured a year before the MADE IN USA stamping was added. I assume the serial number contians a 5 and not an S? Is there a V stamping on the butt in front of the numbers?

The only other model it could be is a Victory Model issued in WWII, but a V would be evident on the butt. Also, these revolvers are 38 S&W and not Spceicial and had MADE IN USA stamping on the frame. Pictures please.
