A month ago I bid on a 1917 on one of the Internet Auctions. Put a fairly small # in and forgot about it. Well It turned out I won the auction.
The Picture is from the auction site so it isnt very good. But it appears to be a fairly nice gun. My Question are:

1. The serial # is given as 210XXX so that would make it a Postwar Transitional? How uncommon are they?

2. Is the tool in the Back really a de-mooner?

I wont recieve the Gun until next week sometime, Better pictures will Follow.

Thanks

Thanks,

Its my 1st 1917 although I have had a couple Brazilians. I cant wait to get it and see the real condition of the gun. Anybody have any history on these commercial guns?

Dan

Dan: Mine is a commercial 1917 that was stamped with a Brazilian crest and no other military markings and sent to Brazil in '38. I believe mine was made in either 1937 or 1938, and the SN is 1429xx, supposedly a very early Brazilian.
Don't know much about tht history of the commercial models, but they were not among the top sellers.
Mine is a finely made revolver, one of the 3 best N frames I have owned in the last 35 years, a joy to shoot, and still solid as a rock.
I'd love to find another one.
Enjoy it.
