As the title suggests, I have a a 21-4 that is not marked "Thunder Ranch". The serial starts with DAU, not TRS. The 3rd SCSW implies that is it is a 21-4, then it should be marked as a TRS. Anyone have any info on my variation?

Not all were TR versions. I've personally handled a 2009 production gun in nickel without the logo. The "Classics" version was sold in blue, nickel, and color case frames with Altamont service style grips.

Attached larger pic. Came out after the tr, but before the "Classics". Have changed out the grips, as the originals were a stained cheaper grade wood. The one owned is factory sighted in for 200 grain loads, shoots quite nicely and is well fitted.

A lot of people did not like the billboard attached to the tr version, and it wasn't very poplar at the time.

I have two Thunder Ranch and one that is not. Many people didn't like the Thunder Ranch gold marking. So Smith did a run without.

Mine is Nickel. The prefix is DAW for whatever that's worth. And No it's not a thunder ranch.
BTW it's become one of my favorites. Smooth as glass and VERY accurate.

My 21-4 is not a TR either. the grips that came on it were horrible. I changed the grips and the front sight to a patridge. The original FS was too short causing it to shoot high with my std. load of a cast 250 swc pushed by 7.5 grs. of unique.

Mine is prefixed CJL, shipped 2005, non TR. Round butt, with what looks like Ahrends stocks. I've added a set of Ahrends RB Combats. They're comfortable, and the revolver's a great shooter.

The original stocks on mine were just horrible tiny little things. I installed a set of Ahrends and never looked back. The originals are still in the box where they belong, not on a gun.

I have both the blued and nickel plated versions -- Trigger pull has to be felt to believed -- Smooth as glass

Mine is serial DCLxxxx, SKU 150183. Have barely shot mine. Got to find it in the safe to 'clear it's throat' at the range, but it's hidden behind a pile of J-frames. ;) Would love to find a SB conversion grip, but the service Magna style, not the target style. This may not be possible.

If it's in your way.....

I get on the auction site when I am looking for something. I like the looks of a 21, (without the T.R. gold emblem) I RARELY see any. Bob
