I have a new .45acp model 22-4 N frame and cannot seem to find a grip that fits this model.

It is new and has the original small wood grips as seen in this photo: Smith and Wesson 22-4, Reviewed by Daniel Balderas | The Martialist

I have tried the Hogue Monogrip, and it didn't work because the Hogue requires it to be screwed to the bottom of the grip frame (mine has a screw on the side of the grip panels as seen in the above photo).

Then I tried the Pachmayr Gripper and it didn 't fit at all. It seems to be about 0.5" too long for the grip frame.....

Am I missing something here? I have big hands and need something more to hold onto while shooting this amazing gun. I really love shooting it, but would really love better grips.....

Any suggestions from the Masters out there?

thanks,

Chris

The 22-4 pictured in the article does not have a lanyard loop. If your does not then there is a small metal clip that fits over the butt of the frame attaching to the stock pins. This clip will then slide into the channel cut into the Hogue Monogrips and allow you to screw into the bottom. If you don't have a lanyard loop then your missing the clip.

Any grip for an N frame square butt should fit I think. Here is a 22-4 with a regular aftermarket grip from CDNN. I have also used hogue monogrips and factory target grips with it.

Wow....was this supposed to come with the gun? Where can I order one?

There should be a stirrup with your Hogue monogrip that fits over the pins in the bottom of the frame....the bottom of the stirrup has a captive nut inside of it.
Slide the monogrip over the bottom of the revolver using those same locator pins at the bottom that you previously attached the stirrup to. once the grip slides up and onto the frame, you have a hole in the base of the grip that the screw goes into....and into the captive nut held by the stirrup....tighten it and you are good to go.....I have one of my 21-4, and it fits just fine

Everyone else beat me to it!

But what they said. I currently have a set of Pachmayrs on the gun now.

Finding grips for N frames in general has been a bit of a challenge, but they are out there.

Anything that says it will fit a square butt N frame will fit on your gun.

Thanks for reading.

Dang it! My Hogue didn't have a stirrup that came with it....

Sigh, I guess I'll buy another one from a more reputable seller.

Thanks!

I also found the stock grips inadequate, somehow they don't measure up to regular magnas. My solution was to buy a pair of the Herrets cocobolos you see above from CDNN. $38 and they are much more comfortable than N frame targets.

Check your grips again, sometimes you find the stirrup all the way down at the bottom of the grip with the screw attached....
just unscrew it, turn the grip over and shake it, it will drop right out

I too found the stock grips on my 22-4 non usable, wound up putting on a set of older N frame magna's with grip adaptor.

I finally got it in the mail. I ordered another Hogue Monogrip from Midwayusa and, of course, it came with the necessary stirrup (the one from Amazon did not).

Here she is...Merry Christmas to me!
