Getting Pachmayr Gripper Grip onto model 19

IIRc, there were some Pach's that had a screw that was thinner in the middle, to allow fitment around the main spring, are your screws like that, or are they the same diameter all the way?

This^^^

It's been years since I was into Pachs, but back in the 80s/90s that's all my guns wore. I remember those screws. In fact, I made a few when the supplied screw wasn't thinned, I think maybe some older used sets the screw wasn't thinned. IIRC though, the screw hole wasn't completely blocked, you could just see the mainspring on the side of the hole, so the thinned screw provided enough clearance. I haven't handled a new Smith or new set of Pachs, so I don't know if the geometry is still that way.

A couple of years ago I had trouble getting the Diamond Pro grip on a J-Frame. I called the number on the packaging and they put me through to a guy who was extremely helpful; to the point of emailing me to make sure the install had worked. Call the number.

I just ran into the same problem with another set of grips. Then I noticed that the hammer spring dog-leg, on the bottom wasn't in the frame notch, so when the strain screw was tightened, it put the mainspring in the wrong position, blocking the hole.
