I have a Model 625-3 Model of 1989 with a 5 inch barrel. I have three different grips for it. A set of what look to be aftermarket wooden combat style grips (my favorites). Two sets of Pachmayr rubber grips, one with finger grooves and the other without. I believe the Pachmayrs without the grooves are correct as I have seen a couple of pictures of those on 625's (also the Pachmayr emblem is below the grip screw in those pictures as is mine). Does anyone have a picture that they are positive that shows the original grips? TIA!

A 625-3 i owned
Factory pachmayr,
Wearing hogues.
I am certain that particular pachmayr is the factory grip.

My 3” and 5” -3s came with Pachmayr Grippers.

My two 625-3. Both 4". One came with factory Hogue (shown) and other with factory Pachmayr "Gripper". This wears one of Kim's early Laminated Tacticals.

I should note that both of these came to me pre-owned.
I know that when the 1988/89 series were "New" in the LGS, I most commonly saw them with the Pachmayr "Gripper", full size w/ covered backstrap. The rubber Hogue monogrip w/silver S&W medallions were normally seen on the 629's of the same vintage. Some of the 610's & 625's would show up with the Hogues also.

I really don't care for the rubber grips that came on my 625-2. They were initially replaced with Ace Custom R2S conversion stocks, but when I discovered the ones from Klinsky in French Walnut, the Aces were designated for disposal.

The finger groove model pictured most forward looks more correct, the middle set looks like the compact version.

With the compact version's is the way I got it. It was used at that time, so no telling what originally came on it. That is why I was hoping someone had a picture of a NIB unmolested 625-3.

My 625-3 5" came with the Pach Grippers, finger grooves. I was told they were the factory grips. Seems like that is the consensus here as well.

I wasn't a huge fan and replaced them with black VZ 320 boot grips. Didn't like those either; looked good but too small for a top heavy gun. Chose the black VZ tac diamond round-to-square conversion grips. MUCH happier with those. IMO a 5" N frame w/ full underlug benefits nicely from a larger grip.

Enjoy yours! I know I do.
