S&W Centennial date of manufacturer

I recently acquired a S&W Centennial and I'm trying to figure out what year it was made. The serial number is 460X. Could anyone help me determine what year this was made? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I don't have the reference material within arm's reach, but I'd say the odds are pretty good that that's a first year gun, and we know they were introduced in 1952. Looks like it's been in a time capsule.

Edit to add: I also notice that you and I joined this forum on the same date - 14 years apart.

From my database the guns shipped around your 460X were shipped in the last quarter of 1954! The Steel frame centennials (pre mod 40) and the Al. frame centennials (pre mod 42 ) were all serial numbered in the same system starting at #1

The catalog states that the serial range 1-30160 ran from '52-'57, so yours is probably very early. I would consider a Historical Letter.
