Am I the only one having problems with the butt plates on these magazines breaking? The last two times out with my 22a a butt plate has broke, leaving a magazine worthless. The first time I had ejected the mag onto the ground. I suspect the angle of the landing might have broke it. To be safe I started catching them with my hand. Yesterday, the butt plate broke while I was seating it in the weapon.

I have 8 mags and never had any problems with the bases breaking. Call S&W Customer Service as jackrabbit suggested.

ive had my gun for many yrs and have 4 mags. no problems here and gun has survived both teen age boys that have growed up to fine young men now.

Went to the range for the first time with my new 22A today and one of the magazine butt-plates failed the first time I fully loaded the mag. Kind of embarrassing for me, but definitely not a good advertisement for S&W. There were at least 2 other guys there that were considering buying the 22A and eying off my new handgun. They didn't wait till the end of the shoot to get my feedback.....

Just happened to me as well. Cheap plastic that breaks easily. Gun otherwise shoots great (though it doesn't like bulk ammo.)

have a 22a also no problem with my mags only have 2 mags 5 1/2 inch barrel . my question is how often do you clean the mags? anyone? as long as they do good should i still clean mags

My 5-1/2" Talo edition came with three magazines and all of them are still in good condition. Of course, I don't shoot combatively - I consider my guns firearms, not weapons - so I don't eject magazines onto the ground.

I will say that I have to press upward firmly on the area of the S&W logo on the magazine bases or they don't seat fully into the gun.
