Hello to all of you,
On my shooting forum here in France, a guy is selling a S&W model 25-2 which accepts both cartridges the .45ACP and the .45 Colt.
As it is a dash 2 model, the "normal ammo" is the .45ACP with moonclips. I suppose the cylinder as been bored to accept the .45 Colt.
It's very rare in Europe to meet such a model bi-ammo, my question is, was it an option proposed by S&W or is it made by a gunsmith afterwards ?
Cheers,
Jacques

To work even remotely properly, the gun should have two cylinders. The cylinder stop, if correct for the Colt cylinder, will allow some slop for the ACP cylinder, of course. Reboring the ACP cylinder for Colt cartridges would not be an ideal solution. You can be sure that S&W would not do that.

True, not a S&W product.
Done by a gunsmith. I read that at one time, a .45 Colt was considered an antique and easier to license in France.

The usual conversion here is to modify a M25-5 .45 Colt to accept .45 ACP in clips.

Thank you for your explanations. I've got a M25-3 and I managed to make a moonclip very slim about 0.02 inch and using .45ACP Geco cartridges because they have a quite slim edges, it worked. But it was just to play, I prefer shooting .45 Colt.
Have a good evening;
Cheers,
Jacques

I am not sure if you are a reloader. But I prefer shooting 45 Auto Rim because I didn't need the clips and I could load very light loads.
