Model 25-5 4"

Another inherited firearm. Actually 2 of them. My Grandfather left my father and I 2 of these. Me the 4" and my Dad the 6". Actually I got them both but Dad took a shining to the 6 and we are just agreed to never sell either of them.

Curious as to when this one was made and approx value.

99% condition at least. I don't think this one was ever shot. Almost no turn ring to it. I mean none. Original Grips, Box (or I assume original box), and papers.

Thinking that these grips will be put away and some Ahrends be put on and a nice floral Threepersons holster from Lobo would really shine here!!! Whatcha think guys? Cause it will be shot and carried.

Every S&W wood presentation case I have seen came with a light blue lining material. The lining didn't hold up well and many have been re-done. I think yours is one such.

Your serial number probably shipped about 1979-1980. Value would be between $550 and $850, depending on where you are and how bad a potential buyer wanted it.

The 4 inch Model 25-5 is a very much sought after sixgun. Your grandfather had excellent taste!

Thanks! He did indeed. Like I said I have a 6" one of these as well also a 66 Combat Magnum and a Colt Python with 6" barrel. A Colt Combat Commander from the 70's. Plus numerous others. Those are just the highlights.

I was wondering about the felt. But I have seen several with Red and I guess they were redone too.

Nice gun! As for the felt it has been redone, probally if you have seen another it was also redone. The factory blue that they used was never any good and most needed to be redone. It is a easy fix if you wanted to return it to factory color, it still looks great and it is a plus to have the box with the gun. I have seen these 4" 25's sell for close to a grand in your condition before on GB.

Very nice gun! These are very hard to find nowadays in the 4" configuration especially.
