Tried twice to post this, never showed up twice. I have a a 25-2 Model 1955 in its original box w/ accessories. Only thing missing is whatever was in the slot above the mop, screwdriver maybe? Can anyone tell me what it was and where I could get an authentic one to complete the set? Model 25.jpg

This 25 ND came to me with this Smith & Wesson Muzzle Brake. Not what would go in your empty slot, but an interesting and scarce piece. KenL has one for a K38 but this is the first one I've seen for a 45 ACP.

Sight adjustment tool. I suppose which one depends on when your M25-2 shipped:

1961-1964–Aluminum fluted-handled screwdriver with flat tapered blade...

1964-1988–Aluminum fluted-handled screwdriver with hollow ground tapered blade...

Welcome back to the Forum! There are lots of Model 25 fans to be found here, and lots of information, too. You have a nice Model 25-2 (.45 ACP) revolver in an original mahogany presentation case...and the case inserts are actually in VG condition. With most inserts I've seen, the blue flocking has disintegrated and there are often holes in the underlying plastic. As others have mentioned, you're only missing the SAT (Sight Adjustment Tool...aka screwdriver). I'm not positive if the mahogany presentation case is original to your Model 25-2, but S&W did provide those cases as options and with the 125th Anniversary Edition (.45 Colt) in 1974. Presentation cases are usually associated with other N-frame revolvers...Model 27s, 29s, and 57s. If you provide the s/n of your Model 25-2, we can help you out with the date of manufacture. I would suspect that your revolver has an N-prefix s/n (which began in 1969). The 25-2 was introduced in 1961, but yours was manufactured sometime after 1968 because the checked Goncalo Alves wood stocks don't have the diamond center. The Model 25-2 is one of my favorite shooters...very accurate and controllable with .45 ACP. My 6-1/2" Model 25-2 (s/n N139297) is ca. 1973. You should be able to find an SAT to complete your set. I'm sure that some other Forum members will be along soon to chime in. Enjoy!

I think I have the one you need

I checked in my parts stash moments ago and I THINK I might have the one you need but it really would depend upon your serial number.

The one "extra" SAT I have is 8 flute aluminum (hollow) handle, with a black oxide hollow ground blade tip. I had bought (and since sold) 2 guns that came with accessories and wooden presentation cases. I cannot recall which one came with this "extra" SAT but I'm thinking it was the Model 29-2 because the accessories were cleaning rod, wire brush, mop all still factory wrapped and I think this was just loose in the sale "package" for the M29. The other was a Model 27-2 and the case had been redone by someone in maroon velvet, tastefully done, however I was not sure of accessory placement and again...just a loose extra.

Both guns were Lettered by me and the Model 29-2 shipped December 31, 1980 (yep...New Years Eve) and the case with gun pointing right was correct. The other gun, Model 27-2 Nickle, shipped May 8, 1980 and also had the gun pointing right again, supposedly correct for 1980.

What you see in the gun pics is exactly what shipped to new owners when I sold them here on the Forum years ago so I am left with the SAT shown in 3 pics below and I THINK it may be correct for your cased gun.

Like said if you will post your serial number and if forum members pin down a year for you, maybe you want to PM me and we'll see what can be worked out.

Wow, thanks everyone! Was trying to reply to Wiregrassguy, we'll see what happens. This forum format seems pretty complicated. S/N is N450600. Should have included that. Tried the S&W website for a S/N Lookup Tool they supposedly have but a search didn't uncover it. Sent them an email, see what happens. Someone corrected my belief that it is a 25-2, sez it's a 25-5. Not sure of the difference.

In the years that a 25-2 shipped with a Presentation Case, only this one would be correct:
1964-1988–Aluminum fluted-handled screwdriver with hollow ground tapered blade...

I think you are misreading that. He is saying his gun is a 25-5.
25-2 is cal 45 ACP
25-5 is cal 45 Long Colt
What is marked on your gun behind the yoke?

Judging from your photo, for whatever that’s worth, your revolver is a Model 25-2 in .45 ACP. Those guns have a shorter cylinder than the 25-5s in .45 Colt. The confusing exception to that rule is the 25-3 Commemorative, that is .45 Colt but also has the short cylinder.

That’s what I was saying, sorry if it was miss interpreted.
Just showing the SAT that came with it since you mentioned that yours was missing.
Just another M25 from that time period in the presentation case.

Thanks Admin and M29, yes I misinterpreted. Mine's an ACP, moon clips & all. Trigger pull is super tight at one point of the rotation, like something is dragging, although I see no visual evidene of it. Also haven't seen a response to its YOM, s/n 450600.

According to my letter from Roy Jinks my Model 25-2 shipped from S&W Factory on June 14 1978 and it was S/N 458855. Yours is a bit earlier so it may have shipped from them around January 1978 but it would take a letter to know for sure - yours may have shipped after mine for all we know. S&W did not ship in numerical order. Obviously mine must have been made before it shipped but there is not any indication of a made on date in the letter.
