Model 25 classic?

I recently traded for this shooter 25-7 and have been itching to get it out. well today the weather finally broke, its up to 30 degrees. I did not work up any loads for it but had 200 rounds laying around, 200g cast over 8.5 unique.

I have heard the accuracy of these 25-7s was very good and this one did not let me down. I was shooting long ragged holes at 15 yards off of a bench. I cant wait to work up a load for it. I think it can do better with some tinkering of the load.

I was wondering if anyone has tried one of the new classic 25 in 45 colt. Lock or no lock, I would buy one if it is reported to have the same accuracy.

Has anyone had any experience with the new classic in 45 colt?

Yup, bought one in .45 Colt 6 1/2" complete with lock! It is very well timed and shoots great. I have no worry's about the lock in a steel frame L or N frame.

I'm trying to look past the lock so if anyone else can vouch for the Classic 25 in 45 colt please chime in. Surely there is more than one member who shoots a 25 Classic in 45 colt.

I have that same gun. 45 cal, model of 1989.

I had been looking for a long time for a Ruger (did I swear?) redhawk or super redhawk in 45 colt. I left work to take my wife to the maternity doctor. I stopped at the gun shop to just take a look. There it was. Flat black smith, cal 45 colt and the laser inscription on the barrel. The tag said only one. I had to have it. I threw the counter guy a 20, gave him my name and left to take her to the doctors.

I measured the gun, topstrap and everything along with a model 29. All was the same. I bought it. When I purchased it, the counter guy came from out back with another gun in a box. The tag was a lie. It was not the only one they had.

For a few years I loaded some rounds like a 44 mag and used it for deer hunting. I remember practicing and taking out a lens from my glasses and putting a scope gash in my nose with those hot rounds.

I shot hunter silhouette with it some years iron sights and some years scope. I did well out to 100 yards. I always used home cast 255 grain bullets over 9 grains of unique for 900 fps. I have it sighted in at 75 yards. It will shoot some small groups. There has been no scope on it in about 15 years. I have one box of deer loads that I probably will never shoot since I have a super redhawk in 44 mag with a scope.

No I have not shot the newer version but thanks for the memories.
The child was fine and is now 22. He works with me.

A friend recently bought a 625 with the lock and let me shoot it. As far as the trigger pull/feel goes, I really couldn't tell much difference between his trigger and that on my 1989 25-5. Just about the same difference as you would feel between any two S&Ws. I could not feel any of "terrible" things some people complain about with the IL S&Ws. If you want a functional gun, I wouldn't worry.
