model 25 nickel

So I got a model 25 , .45 in nickel lt needs some love and would like some suggestions on a safe polish?

Flitz Polish and an old cotton sock is what you need.

I agree, Flitz metal polish and a piece of soft cotton cloth. Go slowly and gently and the Flitz will remove any grime and oxidation.

You might try removing all oil and accumulated debris from the outside with something like mineral spirits, then following up with wax. I always hesitate to use any kind of polish unless I'm sure I really need it.

That's a great revolver you've bought there. When I saw those a few years ago I was really tempted. A dealer had them in .357, .44 Special, and .45 Colt, IIRC. I should have bought all three. I didn't. Of course now I wish I had.

Use Blue Magic wheel polish from the auto parts store. Small amount on a cleaning patch, then wipe with a soft cloth.

Nice 45. Several years ago I bought the same gun in 44 Spl.(mdl 24). First thing I did was toss those cheesy non hand fitting altimont grips and replaced them with REAL S&W Goncalo Alves target grips.
