Model 27-2 3 1/2" help with pricing

Wish I'd been there!

saw that gun at berea dealer is a good guy ive done business with him before he was willing to be flexable with pricing with me

If I had been to that Berea show I would have bought that for $1500 in a heartbeat...darn it...I went to wrong show! Don't see them in that condition with box very often!

Great to hear. Do you know if he is a local guy. Forgot to ask for his card. He had a really nice selection of guns. From all the info and research it seems $1,200 give or take, would be a fair price. I'm buying to shoot it, but I'm pretty anal about my guns so a "shooter queen" is what I'm looking for. Thanks everyone. And Brown's fan, Go Browns?

I like that term - I'm stealing it! :D

Found out a little more about the gun from someone else who saw it:

"It was a very clean3 1/2" 27-2 N-prefix serial number with 2 piece blue box.
Very good gun but was not in the original box. It was period correct for the gun but definitely not original to the gun."

I'm going to see if he's at a local gun show this weekend, and see what I can do.

"Crafty" sellers at gun shows are notorious for paring incorrect boxes
with nice condition guns to con the unwary into overpaying for the guns.
Several years ago I bought my second of two 4" mod 28-2s at a gun
show in near mint condition. It had a blue cardboard S&W box with it
with a label for the 28 with the correct serial number. I barely glanced
at the box because the price on the 28 was so good I would have
bought it without any box without hesitation. When I got home with it
I took a closer look at the box and saw that it was actually for a S&W
semi auto that the seller had put the 28 label on. I had a little laugh
at myself but I didn't care. I would have bought it at his price if it
came in a paper bag.

Wanted to update everyone who helped provide advice. I didn't get the one from the show, but from a forum member who lives in the area. Did a lot of research since the show and decided to snap this one up at the asking price. Don't regret it. I have a few other handguns including a 686 pro, but this one has mojo! Thanks for your help (enabling).

Nice 27. You will have it forever.

John!

I think you made the perfect decision. I recently sold a gun that was absolutely New In The Box, made in 1953, pre-27. I will NEVER own a gun in that shape again. I did not feel comfortable even handling it. It's new owner and I are both happy.
