Model 27-2 before/after

It sure does feel better in the hand and I know it will shoot better. Goes without saying it looks better. Thanks to forum member for the stocks. I still need to do some fitting as the backstrap lacks about 1/16" fitting flush with the stocks.

Looking good (better than before) from where I'm sitting. Nice grain in those target stocks too!

Now it looks worse. Sorry. I find the targets way too big for the 3.5" barrel. To me it looks very unbalanced. Just my opinion.

Have to agree with SP on this one until I pull the trigger on mine with full power loads, then I like the targets better.

I would have put on a Tyler-T grip or BK grip adapter on it. I too think the stocks look to big for a 3 1/2 inch.

What's more important? "Looks" or performance? Whatever kind of grip a person prefers on their gun is what counts. If a shooter places shots more accurately with grips that "look" wrong, are they really wrong? Form follows function. This is a great looking piece. Just my opinion. :)

I tried shooting it with the magnas. Just didn't work for me. The targets fit me better and I like the look much better. I have never tried the tyler t before so that might be an option on my 19 snubbie. This one is fixed as far as I am concerned, looks better and shoots better.

Life is good! :)

I am torn on this one. I agree with Saxon Pig that they look a bit large on a 3 1/2" barrel but on the other hand the Magna's are to small for my hands. The Targets fit me perfectly. Everyone is different. At least that is a change that is not permanant if you chose to go back.

Much better. I grew up with those horrible service style stocks on dad's Colt .22 and lived with them in the AF for four years. (We tried to get them to allow grip adapters or aftermarket grips but the powers that be wouldn't hear of it. Had to be as issued.) There is no way I would have them on a handgun. I'd keep them . . . in a baggie with a tag with the serial number on it so they don't get misplaced but your change is for the better IMHO. Nothing looks better than a nice, full wood grip with checkering and medalions.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this I guess. Because your statement above is how I feel about it with the magnas on such a large pistol. It just plain needs bigger stocks. :)

Oh, I like it just fine with targets. I wear size 11 gloves so magnas always seem too small for me. I tried magnas on my 27 and didn't care for it (came with targets and a 4" barrel). I was just trying to figure what SP didn't like...

I pretty much like any 27 in any configuration, except in nickel.

Opinion offered. Nothing more. Owner can do as he pleases regardless of how anyone else feels about it. Ungentlemanly? We've done this before. Are we not allowed an opposing point of view? Must we always be slavish with our compliments at the expense of honesty? I don't expect everyone (or even anyone for that matter) to agree with me on aesthetics. Last week I posted a photo of my engraved Model 10 and several members expressed disdain for engraving. Didn't bother me. But where were you guys who are now calling me out? I thought I was quite polite in my comments. Nothing ungentlemanly at all.

I love the guys saying looks don't matter. Really? I'll remember that as everyone is expressing how great one gun or another looks. :)

I agree with that completely, I stick with the Blue:D

Naw, you were just fine in your comment. I personally don't care for the looks of nickel firearms (or bright stainless), and will unabashedly say so. The magnas on a 3½" look more proportional, but the targets don't look horrible. Form follows function...magnas make it look like something a 1950's era detective would carry.

Edit to add: I'd really like to see it wearing magnas made of Stag or Elk with plenty of "bark."
