Model 27-2 before/after

Much better. I grew up with those horrible service style stocks on dad's Colt .22 and lived with them in the AF for four years. (We tried to get them to allow grip adapters or aftermarket grips but the powers that be wouldn't hear of it. Had to be as issued.) There is no way I would have them on a handgun. I'd keep them . . . in a baggie with a tag with the serial number on it so they don't get misplaced but your change is for the better IMHO. Nothing looks better than a nice, full wood grip with checkering and medalions.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this I guess. Because your statement above is how I feel about it with the magnas on such a large pistol. It just plain needs bigger stocks. :)

Oh, I like it just fine with targets. I wear size 11 gloves so magnas always seem too small for me. I tried magnas on my 27 and didn't care for it (came with targets and a 4" barrel). I was just trying to figure what SP didn't like...

I pretty much like any 27 in any configuration, except in nickel.

Opinion offered. Nothing more. Owner can do as he pleases regardless of how anyone else feels about it. Ungentlemanly? We've done this before. Are we not allowed an opposing point of view? Must we always be slavish with our compliments at the expense of honesty? I don't expect everyone (or even anyone for that matter) to agree with me on aesthetics. Last week I posted a photo of my engraved Model 10 and several members expressed disdain for engraving. Didn't bother me. But where were you guys who are now calling me out? I thought I was quite polite in my comments. Nothing ungentlemanly at all.

I love the guys saying looks don't matter. Really? I'll remember that as everyone is expressing how great one gun or another looks. :)

I agree with that completely, I stick with the Blue:D

Naw, you were just fine in your comment. I personally don't care for the looks of nickel firearms (or bright stainless), and will unabashedly say so. The magnas on a 3½" look more proportional, but the targets don't look horrible. Form follows function...magnas make it look like something a 1950's era detective would carry.

Edit to add: I'd really like to see it wearing magnas made of Stag or Elk with plenty of "bark."

I like targets better with a long barrel.
I like ivory magnas with a shorter barrel.

I prefer magnas, but those targets look a lot better than some godawful Hogue Monogrips would.

I hate rubber Hogue Monogrips and am not shy about it.

I strongly prefer wood. If I'm going to have rubber grips, I want Pachmayr Compacs or Grippers.

I'm a big fan of J targets on a 3" or 4" J.
On K, L, and N frames, I like Magnas.

I also like bright nickel a lot better than polished stainless.
Nickel has a warmth that stainless does not.

I never have liked magnas on N frames. They are just too small for the big revolvers IMO and need the fuller stock of the targets.

Very nice piece! Congrats!

I have the magna's with tyler's on my 27 3 1/2 incher,i like the looks and feel a lot better, targets for me are just to big.........that's why they have different setups......you can make your gun fit you....To the op,it's a sweet gun ,enjoy.

No offense taken guys. Opinions are just that. Opinions. I like what I like and don't expect everyone to agree with me.
Looks like the split is about 50/50..... Still the targets are staying. LOL.

That's the spirit. Everybody should be able to throw out their 2 cents and the owner does what he wants. That's the American way.

Here's a couple in nickel just for the guys who don't like shiny guns.

Note the targets on the long one. :)

Now it looks worse. Sorry. I find the targets way too big for the 3.5" barrel. To me it looks very unbalanced. Just my opinion.

+1 on that, but if you're happy, yours is the only opinion that counts. The ergonomics of those stocks don't work for me, nor do the looks on that short barrel.

Seems to me there are two types of guns shown here on the forum and OP opinion's seems to follow those protocols. Those guns that are used as 'tools' - of the trade and have a utilitarian value and those that are 'objects-of art'

The 'utilitarian' users like one look and collectors and art lovers ( like myself ) like another. It's purely a personal choice and opinions will vary with the personal taste dictating the tone of the comment. As user 'SODACAN' says; It only matters what you like.
Personally, Matt, I think it's a +10.
Enjoy it........

I wasn't so concerned about "looks" since everyone is going to have an equally valid opinion there. :D

For me, the point of the shorter barrel is for carry, and most probably, concealed carry. To that end, I would be more inclined to try magnas + grip adapter. Isn't that what it was designed for?

I have noticed a lot of comments that the targets will improve its shootability. Well, so would a longer barrel. Maybe you could even hang weights and lights and lasers on it! :D
