Hi guys, I picked up a very nice old 27-2 today, complete with original box and tools. I don't think the grips it came with are Smith & Wesson, or are they? They feel great, but I guess I should go looking for an original set just to have.

Anybody here know what grips these are?

Those appear to be some kind of late model aftermarket laminated grips, probably made by Altamont or a similar outfit.

My mistake. I was thinking blue box, not presentation case.
Do you have the shipping carton it came in ? That would have a label on the end.

No, that I don't have.

The lettering on both sides of the barrel is highlighted white. That's not stock either, is it? I don't mind, looks nice to me.

Somebody babied this gun, it doesn't look like it's been shot a lot.

I have a bunch of S&W revolvers, but never had a Model 27.

Can't wait to go shoot it.

It came in the wooden box with target hammer and target trigger so I am sure it shipped with target stocks, as well. These are everywhere and easy to find.

I have the same gun in nickel. These are the stocks you need. Style was used 1968-1982. Called "Football Targets" due to shape of relief cut on left side.

These grips were often swapped out for thinner combat grips that would accommodate speed loaders.

I have a set grips identical to the ones shown in Post #13 and #14. PM me if interested. They are new.

Great looking revolver and it's looks great with the presentation case and the tools.
