Model 27-3 presentation box

Hello,

I picked up my Model 27-3 tonight and was disappointed to find that the velvet covered plastic bottom piece did not survive shipping intact.

The wooden box appears to have been dropped with the gun in it and the weight of the gun shattered the vacuum formed lower velvet covered tray.

Anybody know of a solution for this?

Jim, I understand your disappointment but the demise of that case was inevitable, unfortunately. Around 1980, S&W went to that style of case where material is basically pulled over the liner and fastened to the plastic liner. I had a model 29 with this kind of case that was new and still in the plastic wrap. When I took off the wrap, the liner was disintegrated. The 75-79 spray on type seems to survive , the 1980 and later, never do.
