model 27 question

hey guys and gals I'm curious how rare is a model 27 with a 5inch barrel i just picked one up for 400 dollars. was this a good deal

Welcome! I wouldn't call it rare but a very desireable length. Alot of people feel that the 5" is the ideal length for a N frame. As with anything condition is everything. Did it come with a box papers or tools?

No box or papers, the deal on this gun was my father died back in '96 and after he died my stepmother sold all of his guns. I bought it back from his best friend about a year ago after trying to locate them all . The finish could be alot better he was a police officer and he carried this for a while. I ve thought of restoring it but that would take away to much character

i guess as a good faith gesture since his friend had to pay for i was just glad to get it back after all those years 400 is what he paid for it in '96
