Model 27 question

Been enjoying this forum for quite a while - Thanks for all the great info. I have a Model 27 (no dash) serial # S199xxx 3.5" blued 357. Unfortunately, the revolver did not come with the original grips. Rubber grips are on it now. my question is, would it be worth the expenditure of $300.00+ to get period stocks since i'm thinking of selling it? I have it for range shooting & home defense, but it's a little too powerful for my better half's arthritic hands.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all.

No matter what you do the replacement grips will never be the original grips the revolver left the factory with and those are what serious collectors want.
You could get a nice pair of Smith and Wesson grips that were close to the original for less than $300.00 or you could get a very nice pair of stag grips for $150.00 or so.
If your M-27 is a nice shooter grade and is priced as such, I don’t think the grips will affect the price to much. So why spend money needlessly?

Is the gun too heavy for your wife or is the .357 recoil too much for her? If it a recoil issue have you had her try using .38 Special loadings. Even .38 +P should be easy to control in an N Frame.

I would say no also it is an in demand gun especially with that barrel length and will sell easily without them

Have her try out a 4" K-Frame Combat Masterpiece. My Model 67 is the gun of choice for most frail shooters that I've worked with. You should be able to get a M-67 plus cash for your M-27.

If i could afford it i would buy it even without grips.

The model 27 3.5" is one of my holygrail guns and i would love to own one.

DON'T sell the gun until you find FAIR and REAL value of it.

Some here would have you think it is a 400 dollar gun.

Look at prices on Gunbroker at guns in LIKE condition if you can FIND one.

The "S" in the serial number makes it more valuable than if it started with an "N"....

in 98% cond you have a 800-1000 dollar gun without the correct stocks.
May not bring that HERE, but it sure will on Gunbroker.

Don't go off half cocked and give it away!
