In seeing the coke grip thread just started I thought this would be a good time for another. This gun is listed as a model 27 with a four inch barrel and coke grips.

The lettering on the barrel is not at all centered and if this is a N frame the grips don't fit all that well. What do they really have here?

Thank you.

Dennis

Am I remembering correctly that K-Frame cokes are more rare (and now sell for more) than N-Frame cokes? If so, you may be able to sell those and find some replacements that fit, and have a little cash left over.

I want to say yes, but I am not 100% sure. I know just enough to be dangerous. :D

Using the search button will find a number of previous threads about "cokes" being only N frame which is the consensus of members here I believe. However, there are K frame diamond target stocks that look much like N frame "cokes." I tend to agree with Muley Gil that the OP's stocks are likely cut down N frame. I'll attach a picture or two of some K frame stocks that resemble "cokes" compared with the more often seen non-relieved diamond targets.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that those are N frame Cokes that have been cut down to K frame and the toe of the grips has also been rounded.

I'm going to ride your coat tails on this one, but did think these were K's from the start. The chopped barrel being pretty obvious in the close up. * Though the space seems equal on both sides of the football. (?)

Thanks for all the information. I appreciate the help.

Do not walk, run. Definately K frame diamond targets on a cut barrel 27. What a shame. On the plus side, the diamond targets raise the value of the gun from $300 to $400, assuming that they have not been modified. You might be able to trade them for an uncut barrel.

You might try shopping Altamont Grips online. I recently bought some K frame Coke Grips with S&W logos for $30 per set on a Clearance Sale, they had J frame Grips as well for $20. I bought several of each. They were available in various woods too, some checkered, some not, etc.

Those looks like real cokes (n frame grips) re-cut to fit a k frame. The barrel appears to be cut down to four inches.
