Hi, new to this forum, could use some advice. Ran across a model 28-2, 4" in very good condition (96-98), seller is asking $675. Not sure about the pricing of these. I recently discovered older SW revolvers & think the are beautiful. Always been an auto guy. I did purchase a 27-3 for $590 in about the same condition a while back - it is quite the shooter. Any comments? Thank you

You cannot buy any modern made .357 double action revolver that will made well and as "quality" as that M28-2 for the price you have mentioned.

You could possibly find one cheaper but how soon?

If you're young enough, and live in an area where many possibilities exist you can be patient. If you older (I'm 63) and live where chances are slim, it might be a good buy.

Those are close to, and sometimes over, 1 k here in kali. buy it. it's a good price for even the free states.
Nothing new will come close to the 28s and 27s.

You can always offer less and see what the seller says. I am trying to nab this one with an asking price of $575.....a bit worn but still a venerable gun.

28-2

A LGS here recently had a 28-2 4", in that 96-98 range. Listed at $835.00. Too much for me, but I was surprised when the owner told me yesterday that it sold full price. Go figure ?:)

IMO a barely OK Retail LGS price for W. Pa. .......... that said

how many are you seeing for sale?...... around here not many and most of the few I've seen in the last year were 6" guns.

how long till you might see another?

try offering $600...... is it a private sale ? If he tried to sell it to a LGS or trade it on something else he might get between $350-500 for it.

if it's a gun shop...... I find most are willing to dicker on price..... 3-4% for cash...... some will eat the sales tax........ if you're a good customer and they want to move the gun 10% or price it $100 over what they have in it. Most like to keep their money working not sitting in the used gun case!!!!

Welcome to the FORUM! I have a 28 no dash from 1960, 6", not 4" Wouldn't mind a 4 incher. Try offering $600 for it. If seller won't move on price, do you want to loose it? You never know when the next 1 will come along. What may seem to be a high price now, will seem like a deal down the road. Let us know how you make out! Bob

Thanks for the replies, I bought the 28, figured why not, will keep for many years. The condition is really what made the sale - just about flawless, just a light wheel ring, all else is pretty much mint or near mint. Gonna shoot it anyway. Thanks again for the opinions
