I visited a LGS near my house last Saturday. I don't visit very often because his prices are high, and he lets me know he "has a lot" into his used guns. I did however find this guy in the case. Model 28-2 four-inch. SN 105XX puts it made in the 1970's. It's not a safe queen but a good solid shooter. At $500.00 plus the states cut I couldn't pass it up. This one has a story behind it... I buy the gun, not the story. Here are a couple of pics.

Luckily, at this point I'm too poor to have this happen to me. [emoji19]

"Gee mom, can we keep him?" Very nice.

I would have done the same, had I been offered the opportunity. Last 4"er I saw was tagged $699, in about that condition (as I see it from here)

Maybe tomorrow's the day......... Congratulations!

The prices for HPs are climbing along with all the rest of the S&W N-frames. Don't see them for under $500 any more, and asking prices are often in the $650+ range. I did find a minty 4" 28-2 for $485 a couple of months ago at a local gun show, but I had to swap out the "custom" stocks that were on it for a set of magnas that I had in my stock box. Great revolvers, have fun!

Nice find! I have a 4" and a 6", not collector's, but nice examples, and my eyes are always looking for another one. Just a non classy looking model 27 for half the money, but they are moving upwards in price
