Model 28 No Dash

I picked this up yesterday, a no dash Model 28 with 4" barrel from 1960. I hope y'all enjoy looking at photos.

Based on the condition of the recoil shield, I would guess that this gun has been fired very little in its past life.

The serial number matches up with the same number on the right stock panel (minus the S prefix) and with the number stamped on the back side of the extractor star.

According to the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 4th Edition, the no dash Model 28 is worth a 30% premium compared to all the subsequent Engineering Changes.

What a great score! I have a 6" ND model 28, but I was really wanting a 4"er. However I wasn't about to pass it up over that. Yours is in great condition too. My 28 serial lines up with 1958, possibly 1959, but I choose to call it a birth year '58.

I would take a 4" from any year. Nice work!

(I did find a 4" barrel for it, just have to work up the nerve to spend the $$ to do it. Local gunsmith says $200 bucks!)
