What's a model 28 with a 6 inch barrel worth, got a call from a friend who saw one at a local gun shop , he said they had a price of $699 on it . He said it looks to be in good shape, think it is worth looking at for that price.

Definitely worth looking at for that price, if it is in as good a shape as he says, it can't hurt to offer a bit less and see if they bite.

If indeed a Model 28............... it will be a 4 screw w/ Diamond Magna stocks. They do not come up for sale too often - I'd have to go look at it.:)

The OP asked about a Mod 28 not a Mod 28-2.
Big difference in price, as VM states.

GF and VM are, of course, correct. Maybe I just live in the land of higher priced revolvers but I will never see a M28 in my AO thats not a complete basket case for less than $700. Here's mine. I traded a Ruger SRH .454 even for it and still had to source a set of Diamond Magna stocks which ran me another $75 which was a bargain from a member here. If its a no dash 28 in decent shape with correct stocks, I would jump on it for $700

Wheel guns of all sorts are hard to find round here, except for new ones. I don't have much interest in most of the new stuff. If that popped up in the LGS for 700 I would bite, high or not.

It all depends on which 28 or pre-28 as to what it's worth. Correct grips have a major factor on the price.

If it's a pre-28 with the right grips in perfect condition with box, I will buy it probably or the elusive or non-existent 28-1. But even a no dash 4 screw I dont think I would pay that, definitely not a 28-2. Maybe even an 8 inch 28-2 I might buy because they are so rare.
