I am looking at buying one of two model 29-2s. The 6" barrel is a clean 98% gun. The 6 1/2" is still a 98%er but not quite as nice with more barrel tip bluing wear and a little cylinder rash on one chamber from a holster. Which would you prefer?

Most here will say the 6.5" from what have seen here, but not me. I much prefer the 6" for looks and feel. If you choose the longer tube, let me know where the other is.

6 1/2" is the "classic" 44 Mag. That being said there are far fewer 6" 29s than there are 6 1/2" guns

The 6" didn't come out till the barrels were standardized across the product lines.

I personally like the 6 1/2 but given what you have said I would buy the 6" gun, rarer by far and in better condition.

Let's face it a 6 1/2" 29-2 is a pretty common S&W.
