I have a 29-2, ser. no. N815XXX. I'd like to know when it was made (I think in '80 -'81) and, what box it would have been shipped in. If it was shipped in a presentation case, is it the box style that the gun points to the right? Flocked plastic, tool compartment with lid or recesses in the individual tools? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about your box questions, but the Catalog says it was born in 1980.

The type of presentation case shown below was used from 1979-1985. The revolver points to the right and the accessories are contained in the compartment. When you find the correct case it will need to be relined. Joe Cebull is expert at this (jcelect on this Forum).

Thank You

Thanks Bill and Jim for the info. So if the gun is a 1980, did it come in a wooden presentation box only or could it have been shipped in a Lear Sigler paper box? Also the case in the photo shows cloth lining over foam (right?). Could it have been the thin plastic insert with a blue fuzzy lining?

The case in the photo has its original lining (a synthetic material over foam rubber in the top and a blue plastic insert in the bottom molded in the shape of the revolver. The 29-2 was shipped in a plain blue box with the case and everything was contained in a cardboard box.
