Well this addition is compliments of the Mrs on Christmas,
I guess I am back in the 29 club, Best I can figure is it dates to 1980? Serial # of N791XXX, Is this correct?
It is showing a bit of holster wear but the action is tight and real slick no buggered screws.

The date sounds about right. That looks like a real shooting machine - congratulations!

That picture brings back fond memories of an 8-incher I used to have, it maybe a bit earlier than that one, but a dead-ringer for that one in appearance when we parted company. I bought it new and got a lot of use from it. It was a good gun. It fell victim to an economizing campaign that took several good S&Ws away. In later years I learned you can never replace a gun like that because when it is gone, it takes some of you with it.

I guess I originally looked at it over a month ago, And I could not believe how it balanced with that long tube, and how smooth the action was.

You mention balance. We used to shoot these guns a great deal at "long" (for Indiana) ranges, usually at the ubiquitous rocks on the hillside, and of course at metallic silhouettes. At that time I had three 44 Magnums, one each in the various barrel lengths. The 4-inch gun was carried around a lot, but shot sparingly. Between the other two, I usually was more successful with the 6.5" gun. I was never particularly strong in my forearms and would get tired shooting the 8-inch gun offhand. It also gave me some sight picture troubles. (My vision is a bit problematic in some ways.) When I determined I needed money for more important things than revolvers, I let the 8-incher go. Admittedly, it was nothing special, but I had shot that gun so much I hated parting with it, even though I was more accurate my other gun.
