Model 29-3 with Scope Cuts - Rare?

Hi All,

I've had a blued model 29-3 with scope cuts (so obviously it has the 8 3/8" barrel) for several years. I don't have the rings for it, although I do have a scope from a previous model 29.

For some reason I thought all the long-barreled 29-3s had scope cuts till I saw otherwise recently. I freely admit I had never actually researched this; it was just an impression I had based on some things I read and my own experience.

Now I see some comments that state that having the scope cuts on a blue 29-3 with the 8 3/8" barrel is rare. Is this true?

S&W made about 3500 of these in the late 80s. They might be considered somewhat scarce, but not rare.
