This Model 29, 4-screw, with a 6 1/2-inch barrel and nickel finish was shipped on July 30, 1962 to Faber Brothers, Chicago, Illinois. Since 44 Magnums finished in nickel comprised about 10-20 percent of the total produced, finding one of these revolvers in 98 percent or better condition presents a challenge to the collector of this model.

Nice gun

You are just doing this to mess with me arent you:D

David C has an 8 3/8" nickel one you lettered to August of 1963

Very nice Bill!

Is the rear pin in the front sight at a slightly different level than the front one, or is that an optical illusion? I also noticed that the ampersand is the smaller version in the address on the right side. That is normal for the time frame isn't it? The wood is very nice on this one too.

G4F...The pins are level. The ampersand is the upright style that is correct for the years 1961-1962. You see the same style of ampersand on the early Model 53s that were shipped in 1961-1962.

Curtis...The 8 3/8-inch is a 29-2 (a fairly early one).

Another beautiful 44 Doc! I had a 29-2 6-1/2" in nickel, but sold it a couple of years ago, just replaced it with a 29-2 8-3/8" nickel in better condition, probably 95 or better. Always enjoy your photos and knowledge.

Stevieboy,

I am not Doc44, but yea, they're "cokes", and nice looking ones too!:)

G4F it makes you wonder if all the killer cokes live at Doc 44's house! Do you suppose that in the back of the vault he's got a Mod 36 that's a real beater?

.... Nahhh.

Now that's funny!!:D:D I actually did laugh out loud.

I bet if Doc44 has a Daisy red Ryder, it's mint too, with class A engraving, and one that shipped to someone famous.......................

My latest acquistion is a Colt M4 Carbine in .22 L.R. caliber. It is great fun at the range.

Bill

Bill, there's one of these around the house too but in a USG version .223. That's quite a bit of fun as well.:)
Nice nickel 44 Mag. Many folks don't have an appreciation for nickel guns but I really love them.

Bill, is this one in the S220XXX-S230XXX range?
Chuck

Chuck...S217248. The other two (DC has the 3-screw that is a 29-2 and I have the 4-screw that is a 29) are in that range, but have an 8 3/8-inch barrel.

Bill thanks. I'm looking for a MOD.-29 in this range to go along with the -1, -2 also in this range. That's proof that all three models were being shipped at the same time in 1962.
Chuck:)

Chuck...the 29 I have has serial number S221748 and was shipped in February 1963 (8 3/8-inch). The later than expected shipping date supports the idea the long barrel just wasn't popular at that time.
