Model 29 Classic

Short barrels seem to be more popular right now but if it's going to be a range gun you may find the recoil of the longer barrel more pleasant. Aside from that or the possible use of it to carry it's pretty much a toss up to me.

Thanks Lynnie-
Recoil has never really been an issue for me.
At one time I owned the longer version that I would hunt wild boar with, and was dead accurate. I loved the gun, but sold it to my partner at the PD for some lame reason or another. The new gun will not be shot much, if at all. Just a beautiful gun I need to own and stare at.

For those more knowledgeable me.
What would be considered the "classic" or original barrel length of the first Mod 29?
Thanks, Paul

Just my two cents. Bought a classic 6.5" 29-10 a year or so ago. Nice gun, blueing is kinda strange and the stocks are awful. Bought a 6.5" 29-2, S serial number, Wow! It is probably 95% or better. $300 cheaper than the 29-10, go figure? It's what you like. Also fell into a deal on a four inch 29-2. I like the 6.5" a lot better. Guess it's the longer sight radius, just seems easier to shoot.

Well I did it. They had a 4 inch blue and a 6.5 Nickel put away for me. Wasn't keen on the 4 inch as it just didn't say " Model 29" to me. I really wanted the 6.5 in blue, as Nickel has always looked a little "ghetto" to me. But, in the end I bought the Nickel 6.5, as it was just too beautiful to walk away from. Now I have to figure out what to clean it with.
Just an update. Paul

Are you planning on toting this 29 at any time? If so a 4 inch will be carried more often and a 6.5 inch will be left at the house more often.

Nope, won't be toting. I have a S&W 327 snub for that. I just have a lust for the 29. All of them, 4 inch included.
I will post a pic when I get a chance
