Talking with a person about a model 29 that is serial AUR2209 and product code 10126. I am not able to get photos. Is this a 29-2? Year? P&R? Thank you very much.

You're missing a digit in your product code. I can't find the AUR 3 letter pre fix, but I'd guess that would be around 1987. However, 29-2's ended around 1982.

Thank you Todd. 101206 is the correct PC. The serial I listed is correct...AUR2209. Thanks again.

101206 was made between 96-99, but I still can't find that pre fix. Closest range I can find is mid/late 80's. If you have the box you can find the date code on the end label. Most likely a 29-6 model. Sure that someone here with more knowledge can help you out.

239th day of 1986.
^^^^^^^^

magmag is correct - the gun was built on the 239th day of 1986.

Here’s how it works.
The 4 digit Spec. Ord. number gives the the year and the day.
The first number indicates the year (it is assumed you know which decade).
The next 3 digits indicate the day of the year - in this case, the 239th day of 1986 - August 27, 1986.

The gun in question is a 29-3. It is NOT pinned and recessed. The -3 was the first 29 without the P&R features.

Edit:
I own the same gun, a 6” 29-3 from 1986. Mine has a serial number that starts with AUC, so very close in age to the one you’re looking at.
It’s as accurate as I am at distance.
If you’re looking to buy a shooter, it shouldn’t disappoint.
