Because I speck what that Smith's value is in my opinion after dealing in S&Ws over 40 years.
OP is not hurt by any means at the price paid..it is just the top end for now. Next year the gun may bring 50% more who knows.
Likewise, he is a new poster (8)...lookin for advice.

This statement does nothing but make someone feel bad or not as good about a purchase already made. It just seems like something that did not need to be said to someone who is happy with a new gun. Now if they were asking prior to purchase that would be different.

Yes there are. I walked into my rifle-smith's shop a couple of years ago and spied a 4" nickel 29-2. "$500 out the door and it is yours" and so it was. It came with an Austin Behlert custom rear sight as well as the original. Nice tight piece and I am a nickel nut with Smith's.

I picked a 98% without box for $900.00 about 2 months ago. And I suspect you could do better than that on GB
