Hope I'm in the right section here. My older brother has gone to a retirement community, and he passed along a Smith & Wesson revolver to me; I'd like whatever information you guys will provide me. I think it's a Model 30; there's no model number present on the crane. It's a three-screw revolver; serial number is 572xxx. The barrel is marked Smith & Wesson 32 Long Ctg. The barrel is 2-inch; sights are fixed. Condition is very good; I admit that's a subjective call, but it shows very little wear or handling. Thanks in advance for anything you can provide.

Welcome aboard from ol' Wyo.

Nice looking .32 HE. I love the half-round sight.

It's a 5-screw frame. There's one hiding underneath the right grip, and there's one in front of the trigger guard.

Lots of fun to shoot. Enjoy.

I have 538045, and S&W shipped it in March 1950.

Welcome aboard!

That's a very fine .32 Hand Ejector, definitely in collectible condition; 96-97% or better if the other side is just as nice.

It's the 2nd version of the .32 HE with a newly introduced 2" barrel (1949) after WWII. And known as a Post War Improved I frame (if it has a coil mainspring under the grips). It is basically a pre war model with the addition of the coil mainspring and improved post war sliding bar hammer block safety. Likely shipped end of 1951 -beginning of 1952.

It became the Model of 1953 when it was built on the New I Frame which is the same as the Model 30.

Congrats!
