Wondering if the experts here can help me identify the date of manufacture on a model 34-1 22/32 Kit Gun that I recently acquired. Gun is a .22 caliber, 4" barrel, blue finish in almost new condition. Original box and paperwork. Serial number is M15XXX. Any ideas on its approximate value would be appreciated as well.

Mid to late 1969.

Yours is very nice and includes the box! Is a matching serial # in black or white grease pencil written on the bottom of the box?

If so, you have a $700-$900 value.

It's not written on the bottom but it does have the handwritten data on the end label. There's a small tear on the label but you can make out the handwritten serial number. I also noticed something I hadn't seen before, there looks to be a date of 032471 written in the lower corner of the label. Guessing that may be the ship date.

The instruction sheet, the statement of liability, and warranty card are also still in the box. The instruction sheet has the serial number handwritten on it as well.

Welcome also! The 032471 looks to have been written at the same time as the rest of the label, but that was not a standard factory date annotation/location. Perhaps the dealer or first owner wrote it there.

Betting this won't be your last S & W. :) Enjoy!

Thanks for the welcome and the info. Love this little gun. I almost wish it wasn't so nice. I'd love to shoot it but it's going in the safe. You're right about it not being my last, I'm picking up a M38-2 .38 special today from the same person. I'll be asking for info on it as soon as I get it in my hands and get some photos.
