Which stocks are correct for a RB 34 in the M serial number range?

Is the 4" bbl version uncommon?

Is $375 a fair price for a very clean 34?

I think you miss typed and meant m serial range. I searched for about five years to find a good shooter grade example of a 34 ( I wanted and found a 2" square butt) and paid in the 550 range. A functional shooter grade 34 under 500 bucks is a good deal under 400 phenomenal

I paid $350 for mine and it is a great shooter.

I'm going to assume you meant an M serial number. Here is one with its original stocks.

4" barrels are plentiful.

It is a "M" serial number.... corrected above. I did get it & will post pics later.

prefix series, wearing factory issue stocks. Of the Model 34 "Kit Guns", the 4" barrel perhaps most prevalent.

Used Model 34s in either the 2.0 inch and 4.0 inch barrel lengths don't come up for sale very often around here. I bought mine (4.0 inch barrel) a few years ago for (I think) around $350.00. It had the original grips, but no box, etc. Additionally, someone in the past had left (blood?) on the backstrap. So yes, if it's in reasonably good condition, $375.00 would b a good deal. I enjoy mine, it's a square butt, but it's a really fun revolver.

Trying to find a "nice" Mod 34 for under $400 any longer is a challenge, and even less than $500 isn't easy. As scarce as they seem to be, it is getting to be a "whenever you find one" situation. People don't seem to want to turn loose of them.

Nice M34's were priced at $900 and up at the Colorado Gun Collectors show here in Denver this last weekend. At least one sold for $900 (a M 34-1 with box but no other goodies).

Here is my 34-1, which has serial M1448XX. The stocks are original. Roy says that it shipped November 1980.



I paid around $400 for it last year sometime. Wonderful little .22!!!

I bought my first M-34 years ago for $195.00, a couple of years later I picked up a round butt 34 and compared it with my square butt revolver and noticed that the first 34 I bought had a patrigdge front sight and the Smith and Wesson was not centered on the barrel. I figured out that my first 34 was a pre M-35 that someone had cut to 4 inches. That's ok, it shoots good and I don't have a lot in it. I love collecting S&W revolvers because the longer you collect the more you learn.

I bought this "deluxe" Model 34-1 back in 2008. Nickeled, red ramp, white outline, semi-target hammer, round butt smooth rosewood presentation stocks. It carries a serial number of M1698xx. My records indicate I paid $500 for it at the time. Apparently shipped in 1981.
