I already own a model 34 snubby. Great gun. My local gun store just got a model 34 4inch bbl in selling for $799. Is this a fair price? It is described as very early model, but in excellent condition. I would like the longer barrell for target practice. Any opinions? SERIAL # 53XXX. tHANKS FOR THE HELP!

That gun would have to be gold plated for me to spend that much money on it.

I have several model 34s and pre-34s. Unless the gun was new, with box and docs and tools, and maybe a favorable factory letter from Roy, I can't think of a model 34 worth more than at most $500

I've seen a few 34s in 4", and $799 is crazy high! In box with papers, maybe $500-$550.

They are great little guns, Had to cough up nearly 400 for this one last november to match a $5 dollar leather holster I found locally, Then the hunt began!

HI, Thanks for the input and pictures. Since my OP, the price has dropped to $699 firm. When I asked why the price is so high, I was told it was a 5 screw-pinned and recessed gun. Does this make the deal sound any better?

Nope.

Even Gunbroker has better deals than that.

Pass and find one later, it'll save you $250!

An unfired perfect model 34 might fetch $500.00 with all docs to someone that collects J frame .22's.

But in that neighborhood you can get a nice K frame model 17 , 18.....Maybe even a
Stainless steel model 617 ......

I am not trying to defame the J frame .22.....Its a neat little shooter...Just saying the K frame .22 is much more gun for the same money.

Cheryl,

Please try to resist the urge to splurge here. Your local dealer should be ashamed of himself.

Way toooooo hiiiiiiii

If you are willing to pay the $799 for that 4" mod 34, I will sell you a mod 35 for $800! That's a 6" barrel on the J frame and a lot harder to find these days!

Thanks everyone. I will resist the urge until another more reasonably priced one comes along!

I agree with jcelect. I only spent $649 on my model 35 no dash. And that was because I felt 35s are hard to find. It's a flat latch too.
