Model 36-1 extractor rod

I noticed recently my 36-1 3" revolver had a sticky cylinder and would not open smoothly all the time. I read somewhere on here that a loose extractor rod could cause this. Well, I checked the rod and it was loose. I tightened it down and gun is good as new. Do I need to use anything like Loctite on the threads to make sure it does not loosen up again?? Thanks!

No, you just have to tighten it, finger tight won't work. There are tools to do this, but this works just as well. Use a piece of moderately heavy leather, fold it in half around the extractor rod and clamp it in a vise. Tighten quite snugly by turning the cylinder. Works best if the cylinder has been removed from the gun.

Would only add that empty brass inserted in each chamber helps to transfer the torque from cylinder to ejector rod without damaging the groove in the ejector rod.
