I think this is the right Forum.............

Saw a pristine M36-2 at the LGS this afternoon. Beautiful blue, beautiful wood stocks, etc.

Asking $499.99.

I passed; I don't need one. But I thought you all should know the current "suggested" retail in Dallas for these little treasures.

On AR15.com someone is trying to sell one for 525. It is a square butt though. It looks in nice condition and it's a no dash. In his description he calls it hard to find or rare.... I'm not sure if it is or isn't but it's a nice looking gun.

Supposedly the 36-2 replaced the Model 36 2" in 1988.

I've seen a few folks refer to 1989 as S&W's "flavor of the month" year.

I don't have a "plain Jane" 36-2, but here are a few flavors from 1989.

- Second Amendment Issue (one of 502 Lew Horton Chiefs)

- Lady Smith

- Double Action Only (two of 2,000)

At $500 your lgs is right on the fringe. My average for these four is $506. The LS and one of the DAOs are ANIB.

You don't "need" that 36-2? Hmmm, glad I didn't let that hold me back when I picked up these four.
