Model 36 Date?

I have a Model 36 that I bought a while back. The S/N is 504174. Can someone please give me a date of manufacture?

No. You are seeing five digits. The OP listed six digits. More like 1966-67. 353xxx shipped in September, 1964.

Howdy! I have a S&W Model 36 (no dash), sq butt, flat latch, diamond grips - 2" barrel. Condition is excellent.

Serial is 4148xx. Can some one tell the approx. date of shipment?

AJ -- my 545731 shipped in July '67 so I'd guess yours to have shipped earlier that year (S&W didn't track "manufacture" dates, only shipping dates, and it didn't ship in serial number order).

Oh, I thought this was about dating a model, 36, and expecting pictures. She's two years older now and just coming into her prime.
