I have a 36 (no dash) that is out of time on one chamber.
What is the thickness of the standard hand?
While I'm asking, before I open it up, does the 36 take a 2 or 3 pin hand?

If by "out of time" you mean that pulling the trigger in double action does not advance the cylinder quite far enough to lock up, you have insufficient 'follow up'. You don't need a hand.

All you need is to gently peen (tap) the tooth on the star ratchet that is contacted by the hand for the chamber at 12 o'clock that is not locking up. Use a flat tip punch and a very small hammer. It's a very simple fix for a common indication of wear. You can tap all 5 teeth since they all have the same amount of wear.

That's basically it, tho it occurs in single action without any drag on the cylinder, and only occurs on one chamber.

Did as you suggested. Improved the OOT chamber. Still not locking up on slow cocking but if I draw the hammer back smartly cylinder momentum locks it which it did not do before.

You really can't go too far because you can always tap it back.
Tap once and try it. You're not taking the cylinder out of the gun to tap it, right?

I am. Ratchet lug backed up by a machinists vise.

I don't remove the cylinder from the gun: I clamp the barrel in a padded vise, pointing down with the yoke and cylinder opened. I duct tape a lead ingot on one side of the vice jaws with a leather pad on top. Before tightening the vise on the barrel l push the front surface of the yoke snug against the padded ingot. It's quick and easy to remove the gun from the vise, close the cylinder, test the action and replace the gun in the vise if it needs more work.
