model 36 question.

I just saw the most perfect "old" 36 that I have ever seen. Flat latch, 100% with box and papers. It belongs to my neighbors' dad and is not for sale. The SN is 4158XX. Can anyone tell me approximately when this gun was made? I hope I have posted in the right place, if not, please forgive. Thanks.

The closest I could get, was between 1962-1969.
The SCS&W 3rd shows that as being in the range of serial
numbers for J-frames. Sure wish you had a pic, tho.

Thanks TACC1. I thought the flat latch would be prior to those dates but I don't know when the latch was changed. I also wish I could get pictures but don't have a clue how to post them.
