Does anybody know of a model 36 in stainless. I have never heard of one. I know the model 60 is stainless, but not a model 36. I see one advertised, that says it is a model 36 SS. To my knowledge, it has to be a model 60. I have ask for pictures, with the cylinder open, showing the model number. We will see.

I looked at it also this morning. My guess based on the appearance in the pics it's a model 60. Seller doesn't know the model or where to look for it or he's trying to BS a potential buyer. Hopefully he'll send the requested info.

EDIT: I went back and looked at the ad. Seller listed it as "RARE"; 1st Red Flag. Seller is known on the site in the Houston area as not having a good reputation; 2nd Red Flag. Buyer beware.

If it is marked Mod 36 it is most likely one that has been re-finished in a brushed nickel or hard chrome. There's always the possibility, but very unlikely, it is a model 60 that was mis-marked. In that event, it would be very rare, but not really worth all that much more than a comparable model 60. Only to someone who collects that sort of thing. Of course we'd all like to see the pics, if you ever get them.

I also see once in a while that an unknowledgeable owner will refer to "stainless steel" when it's really nickel. Shiny is as shiny does....;)

The guy got back with me,and Said he made a mistake about the model number. Changed the listing to model 60. Nice looking pistol, but asking $600 for it.

There was a guy on gunbroker a few years ago who had tons of S&W revolvers, with a bright stainless finish. Almost like nickel. Obviously buffed with a wheel and shined with Mothers. He had them listed as "new in box", but the boxes were generic plastic factory ones. And the stocks were aftermarket wood with no medallions. He had a bunch of 3" 65's. Wanted nearly a grand because they were "new in box and rare". A little research showed this guy was partnered up with a local refinishing house. He was taking scratched up guns, probably PD trade-in's, and buffing out the scratches.

My feedback on there is 100%, both as buyer and seller. I'd never send a stranger with a **** rating, any payment.
