Model 36 Value

I shoot my Ks more than my 36.
For that matter, I shoot my 31-1 more than my 36, because it is the same size as my 36, and it recoils a lot less.
I do like to shoot my 36, just to stay proficient with it.
That tiny grip isn't conducive to a good hold, and requires practice.
I don't even notice the 36 in my pocket. I haven't felt the need to look for an airweight yet.
Who knows, maybe I'll find a deal on one.

Let me jump in here with some observations about shooting the small frame, round butt guns. My personal "trifecta" was one each of the 32 HE snub (post-War) the Baby Chief, and a pre-War Terrier. Together, I probably shoot all of them more than most any single gun (or even any other grouping of guns) I own, so even with the smaller-than-J grips, I feel comfortable with them, even the Baby Chief with real 1970s vintage FBI loads (given me by and FBI agent.) I say this to suggest that with a sufficient amount of use, your J-frame 38s should prove to be manageable by most of you with sufficient range time. I probably shoot the 32 as much as the other two combined, but that familiarization makes the others very comfortable (if perhaps not "pleasant") to shoot. This is my experience, your mileage may vary.
