Model 37 Airweights

What was the Finish that used on the alloy frame of the Airweights. I know that the cylinder and the barrel are blued.
Frame looks black. Can they be reconditioned to original Finish? All Comments and replies welcome.

Both of my Airweights have an electrolytic black anodized finish on the aluminum frame and an electro-chemical black oxide blueing on the cylinder and barrel. That's the sum total of what I know about these finishes, although I much prefer them to the current 637 S&W finishes. They are more durable under normal wear, but the finish can be chipped if struck sharply.
