Hi Folks,
I am trying to get the hang of communicating on the Forum. This is my second attempt to post/ask a question.

I have a very nice looking Model 37 revolver, Ser # J614XX is stamped on the bottom of the grip frame area. On the left side of the grip frame there is an "M" and "D" with a No. 3 between the MD and I believe a part number "18494" this number is also on the Yoke that swings out. On the other side of the grip frame area are what I assume are Inspector's marks a Triangle with a "C" in its center and a circle with an "E" in its center.
On the frame is MOD.37.

Any one have any ideas??

I have seen a lot of term used like; Baby Chief, I frame etc. and would really like to have the history of this revolver.

The serial number puts it as shipping in 1970. The other stampings you note are factory internal codes.

This gun's model name is a Chiefs Special Airweight, a J alloy frame with a steel barrel and cylinder. It was first produced in a slightly different form in the early 1950s and was made until the early 1990s. A very similar gun (silver alloy frame and stainless barrel/cylinder) is still in production as the model 637. Hope this is helpful.
